Charmi Kaur Biography

Charmy Kaur (born 17 May 1987; also spelt as Charmee or Charmi)^[2] is an Indian film actress, who has predominantly appeared in Telugu films. She acted with stars such as Nandamuri Balakrishna, Venkatesh, Akkineni Nagarjuna, Jr. NTR, Prabhas, Siddarth, Ravi Teja, Sumanth, Nitin and Dileep.

Early life

Charmy was born in MumbaiIndia, and her family is of Punjabi background. She studied in Carmelite Convent English High School in Vasai.

Career

She made her acting debut in the 2002 Telugu film Nee Thodu Kaavali, in which she acted as a housewife at a young age of 15.^[3] This film was a flop, but helped Charmme in getting noticed by the south Indian film industry. Her next film was Kadhal Azhavatillai with Silambarasan, which was also a flop. During this time she acted in a Malayalam film directed by Vinayan named Kattuchembakam. This film also bombed in box office. After that she acted in a couple more Tamil films but they bombed at the box office.

Her re-entry to Telugu movies happened with Neeke Manasichhaanu a film with Sreekanth which was a failure; then in Sri Anjaneyam, directed by ace director Krishna Vamsi which too was a failed attempt. It was followed by another failure with Chanti, paired against Ravi Teja. She finally got a big break in Telugu with Gowri in which she was paired with Sumanth. She didn't have to look back afterwards. The stupendous success of Mass with Nagarjuna strengthened her position in Tollywood. Charmme's most indistinguishable and critically acclaimed film so far is Anukokunda Oka Roju. It was a heroine-oriented thriller. Her performance in the movie was acclaimed by critics.

In 2006 she acted in Pournami which was a total failure in spite of high expectations, but her performance was appreciated. Though she did not learn Indian classical dance, her Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi dances in the film were appreciated by audiences. Later that year she was paired for the second time with Sumanth in Chinnodu but it was not a successful venture. Her next film, Rakhi (with NTR), was a hit. In 2007 Mantra, a thriller with Charmme in the lead role, was declared as a surprise hit.This performance fetched her the Nandi Award for the best herione of 2007. Her performance in the movie is appreciated by wide range of audience.

Then, she starred in several lady oriented roles, a rare thing in Tollywood.^{[citation needed]} The list includes Anukokunda Oka Roju, Mantra, Manorama 2009, Kavya's Diary, Sye Aata, Mangala in Telugu and Laadam in Tamil, out of which Anukokunda Oka Roju and Mantra were very successful.

Anjana Sukhani Biography

Anjana Sukhani (Hindi: अंजना सुखानी, pronounced [əndʒəˈnaː sʊˈkʰaːni]) is an Indian film actress and model,[1] who predominantly appears in Bollywood films.

Early life

Anjana was born to a Sindhi family in Jaipur. She did her schooling from first till twelfth standard in Mumbai at Kamla High School way back in 1994, Khar. Academically inclined, she holds a Management Degree in International Business. Her sister Meena Sukhani made her debut in the movie Bachna Ae Haseeno; she was one of Minnisha Lamba's friends.

Film and modeling career

Anjana Sukhani put her academic pursuits behind to pursue acting. During the early years of her career, she was cast in a television advertisement for Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolates with the Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan.[2] She was also noted for her performance in the remixed Hindi music video for the song Ghar Jayegi. Even though she does not have a film industry related background, she has figured in sizeable roles like in the 2007 multi-starrer blockbuster film Salaam-e-Ishq, following which she starred in Golmaal Returns, a sequel to the 2006 hit film Golmaal. Her latest releases are Jai Veeru, Jashnn and her Kannada debut film MaLeyali Jotheyali alongside popular actor Ganesh and Yuvika Chaudhary.She has been cast in Tollywood actor Ravi Teja's film Don Seenu marking her entry into Tollywood.

Additi Gupta Biography

Aditi Gupta ('Aditi Gupta), born April 20, 1988 is an Indian television actress.[1] She debuted in Balaji Telefilms soap Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil opposite Harshad Chopra when she was just 19 years old. Her hometown is Bhopal. Gupta is a fashion designer by profession from Pune. She is best known for playing the female lead Heer in the Balaji Telefilms serial Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil. She has done performances at events such as Star Parivaar Awards, Star Plus's Rang De India and Balaji's Diwali Rishton Ki. Malaika Arora Khan (Punjabi: ਮਲਾਇਕਾ ਅਰੋੜਾ ਖ਼ਾਨ, Malayalam: മലൈക അറോറ ഖാന്‍; born on 23 October 1973),[1] also known as Malaika Arora, is an Indian model, actress, television personality and former MTV VJ.[2]. She is one of India's top Item girls. She is most famous for her dance on the song "Munni Badnaam Hui".

Early life and background

Arora Khan was born as Malaika Arora in Chembur, Mumbai to a Punjabi father, Anil Arora, a native of Indian Border Town Fazilka and a Malayali Catholic mother, Joyce Polycarp. Her father worked in the Merchant Navy.[3]

She completed her secondary education at Swami Vivekanand School in Chembur, Mumbai. Her aunt Grace Polycarp was the principal of the school. She is also an alumnus of the Holy Cross High School Thane where she had studied until ninth grade. She lived in Borla Society, Chembur opposite Basant Talkies before starting her modeling career.[4]

Career

Arora Khan was selected as one of the MTV VJs when MTV India started its operations in India. She rose to an interviewer for MTV India, becoming the most prominent non-movie, non-model female in urban India. MTV India, recognizing her potential, gave her plum roles co-anchoring with Cyrus Broacha the popular program 'Love Line' and 'Style Check', at award ceremonies and concerts on the television channel.[5]

Arora Khan then entered the modeling world. Her modeling career was equally successful. She appeared in many advertisements as well as cameos for song and item numbers in Bollywood films such as Chaiyya Chaiyya in the film Dil Se.[5]

In 2005, she did another item number, Kaal Dhamaal in the film, Kaal. She also did an item number in Mahesh Babu's Telugu film. In 2007, she did a title song in Heyy Babyy directed by Sajid Khan and another popular song for Om Shanti Om whose director is the sister of Sajid, Farah Khan. In 2008, she did an item number in the film, Welcome with Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor. In 2009 she was a Rishto Ke Parkhi in Star Plus reality show called Lux Perfect Bride along with Shekhar Suman and Amrita Rao.

In 2010, she featured in the superhit item song "Munni Badnaam" in the film Dabangg, which was produced by her husband Arbaaz Khan.[6]

Television

Arora Khan appeared in the television show Nach Baliye as one of the three judges.[2] The show was aired on STAR One in mid-2005. She continued as a judge in Nach Baliye 2 that started airing in the last quarter of 2006. In this show, she performed many item numbers as an example for all contestants. She highly criticized Bakhtiyaar Irani for being arrogant in the show. She strongly mentioned that Bakthiyaar Irani should do a crash course on humility to improve his behaviour.

Arora Khan also appeared in the show Zara Nachke Dikha as a judge along with the Indian actor Chunky Pandey on Star One.[3]

Arora Khan was seen as judge in the show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa in 2010 along with Indian actress Madhuri Dixit and choreographer Remo D'Souza.[7]

Personal life

Arora Khan is married to Bollywood actor Arbaaz Khan whom she met during a coffee ad shoot. Together they have a son, Arhaan. Her sister is actress Amrita Arora, and her brothers-in-law are Bollywood actor Salman Khan and actor-director-producer Sohail Khan. Her father-in-law is the famous scriptwriter Salim Khan.[2]

Biography

Early life

Lara was born in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh to a Punjabi father and an Anglo-Indian mother.[1] Her father is Wing Commander L.K. Dutta (retired) and her mother is Jennifer Dutta. She also has two older sisters, one of whom serves in the Indian Air Force and a well known younger sister. Famed composer and DJ Nitin Sawhney is Lara's cousin.[2] The Dutta family moved to Bangalore in 1981 where she completed high school from St.Francis Xavier Girls' High School and the Frank Anthony Public School. Lara graduated in economics with a minor in communications from the University of Mumbai. She was crowned Miss Universe in 2000 which led to her appointment as a UNFPA Goodwill Ambassador in 2001.[3]
Modeling career

Dutta Bhupathi won the annual Gladsrags modeling competition in her native India, thus winning the right to be the first Indian representative at the 1997 Miss Intercontinental, in which she took first place. Later, she was crowned Femina Miss India Universe and Miss Universe in 2000.[4]

At Miss Universe 2000 in Cyprus, Lara was the clear favourite ahead of fierce competition from Venezuela, Spain, USA and Canada. She achieved the highest score in the swimsuit competition and her finalist interview score was the highest individual score in any category in the history of the Miss Universe contest, as her perfect interview saw a majority of the judges giving her the maximum 9.99 mark. After her final question, in which she delivered a passionate defense of the Miss Universe contest (and other beauty pageants), she became the second Indian Miss Universe.

In the same year, Priyanka Chopra and Dia Mirza won their respective Miss World and Miss Asia Pacific titles which gave India a rare triple victory in the world of beauty pageants.
Acting career

Lara primarily signed up to do the Tamil film, Arasatchi in 2002, but due to financial problems, it only released in mid-2004. She made her Hindi debut in 2003 with the film Andaaz which was a box office success and won her a Filmfare Best Female Debut Award. She then appeared in a number of films, some of which failed at the box office and some of which were mildly successful. Her box office "hits" include Masti (2004), No Entry (2005), Partner (2007) and Housefull (2010).

In 2006, she starred in the comedy, Bhagam Bhag which did well at the box office.[5]

In 2005, Sania Mirza and Lara Dutta Bhupathi both participated in Kaun Banega Crorepati (season 2) on 13 November 2005.[6] Dutta's first release of 2007 was Shaad Ali's Jhoom Barabar Jhoom. The film was a box office failure in India but did better overseas, especially in the U.K.[7] She received mixed reviews for her performance in the film. Her later release, Partner opened to a good response and became a hit.[8]

Her 2009 release, Blue was one of the most expensive movies of Indian cinema. Lara had initially walked out of the project because the movie was entirely shot in the ocean and she did not know how to swim. However the male protagonist Akshay Kumar encouraged her in learning how to swim and she immediately started training with a special coach. Blue was released on 16 October 2009.[9] She stated that "The moment I got to know of it, I called Akshay and told him that I wouldn't be able to accept the assignment. He knew the reason behind my decision. Not many people are aware that I had almost drowned while shooting for Andaaz, Akshay had rescued me. When I reminded him I couldn't swim, he told me to forget my phobia and learn swimming pronto," said Dutta. "Today, I feel Blue has not merely made me overcome my phobias, but has also taught me something that will stay with me for the rest of my life".[9]

Her 2010 release Housefull was a hit across India. The movie starred Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone and Riteish Deshmukh. It was the 4th biggest hit in the country with Rs 955 Millions of gross revenue .[10]. She played the role of Hetal Petal , one of the main character in the movie .

In 2011 ,her first movie as a producer Chalo Dilli released.
Personal life

Lara dated New York Yankees star Derek Jeter when she lived in New York City. There she was spotted at a baseball game in Yankees Stadium and a news items was carried on ESPN.[11]

In September 2010, she got engaged to Indian tennis player, Mahesh Bhupathi.[12][13] They got married on February 16, 2011 in a civil ceremony in Bandra,[14] and later followed it by a Christian ceremony on 20 February 2011 at Sunset Point in Goa.[15]
